Hey people, Toolsman wondering where to start from. Ok, lets start this way… HAPPY BIRTHDAY TNC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, it’s been 3 long years and we’re still standing strong. MASSIVE s/o to you – our readers – who have made all of this worth it. Without you, TNC is just another random site out there. I’ll also like to say a MASSIVE thank you to the awesome TNC team. You guys really can’t imagine how much work goes into running this site daily. I’m proud of what we’re building. Yes, it’s continuous and I’m sure you’ve noticed everything has changed this morning. Welcome to TNC version 3.0. We’ve been making noise about it and now, it’s finally here.
For those wondering what has changed, don’t worry, I’ll do a quick run down before we get into activities for today. After two years of pushing out some of the best original content in the African web space, we decided to take things one step further and fully exploring our “express you” pay offline, we’ve modified the site into a micro-social network. No it’s not Facebook! No its not Twitter. Its just TNC. From today, visitors will be able to register as members, build their own profile, send and receive private messages from other members and more importantly, start their own conversations under different groups.
Whew, ok, seems like A LOT of change right?
For those on the desktop site, on the right hand side bar, you’ll notice the login section and a link to register below it.
Once you register, this portion of the site becomes your member area with links to your profile, private messages, groups, mentions etc.
Beneath the member area, you’ll see the quick links to the Groups section. Right now we have 3 groups created. All members can join these groups and join conversations with other members at any point in time.
For those on the mobile site, you can access all the new features through the ‘community’ link in the menu at the top of the site.
The final change I’ll touch on is the new commenting system. We’ve introduced the ‘Disqus’ commenting system that not only makes commenting social because it integrates all popular social network sites, but it also has powerful features like replying to comments with images. Yes, you can now respond to a comment with one of those sick memes. The little icon at the bottom left corner will allow you to add an image to your comment.
Ok, so there you go. Those are some of the amazing new features of TNC 3.0, there’s still more but we’ll cover those later. I know it seems like a lot but y’all know what they say about change. Use the site and of course, we’re always open to feedback. You can always hit us up at email@example.com if you have questions, suggestions etc.
Now y’all know we can’t celebrate our birthday without hooking you up big time. It’s time for another massive competition. As part of our third year anniversary celebration, we’ve come up with a competition called #LoveTNC.
So how does this work?
Basically, all you have to do is express you. You can put up anything that shows your feelings about TNC in any way on social media. It could be a picture of all the friends you’ve met through TNC uploaded on Instagram, a series of tweets about what you think TNC should do to improve on any aspect, posted on twitter, a Facebook update of any kind wishing TNC a happy anniversary, a blog post with links to your favourite posts on TNC, a collection of your favourite pictures from a TNC event, uploaded on Pinterest, a Keek of your thoughts on TNC, it could be anything and posted on any social media in the list below.
