During the week, Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise and I can’t say I was shocked as it has almost become the norm with these celebrities.
“Long shooting days, months on the road and a seemingly endless array of options and suitors make it tough for high-profile actors and celebrities to stay focused on their marriages,” says relationship expert Andrea Syrtash, the author of “Cheat on Your Husband (With Your Husband).”
It is actually sad that these people that appear to be hopelessly in love at the beginning become enemies or manage to stay ‘friends’ at the end. Sigh..
The list is endless; Seal and Heidi klum, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston , Jlo and Marc Anthony, Kimmie(no famz) and Kris Humphries etc. Sometimes I wonder, if they had married ‘non celebs’, would their marriages have lasted (longer)?
Oh well, the Lord is their strength. All of these splits beg the question:

These days people are too selfish and to make a marriage work, some compromises are expected. u need to pay ur partner a lot of attention..so its almost a choice between fame and ur spouse. so yeah, marriages can survive fame, and NO, marriages cannot survive Fame too. (does this even make sense?? ). I'm #Team Homer and Marge Simpson.

Oh pls! Celebrities are just like you and me but they make thier money from the public n so they live thier lives publicly thats all. How many of your ownparents, uncles and aunties are living in strained amrriages but just managin coz of tradition? fame makes no difference jare, just that people see more.

I disagree. Fame plays a HUGE role in how these people met/meet, relate with each other, raise their families and even why they end up splitting up. I don't consider celebrities supehumans or demi-gods or anything, but they are certainly not like you and I. The influences they have to deal with and the influences they themselves are are far far beyond what "you and me" have to deal with.
The truth though is that two people who have the right values and are committed deeply enough to each other can make it work despite those circumstances (and it still won't be easy, not even with us 'normal' people).
So, I say Yes.

there was a time when getting divorced is not an option. This meant that couples worked hard to fix their problem rather than end it. Ofcourse, where one person has an upper hand in the relationship, this can sometimes be abused. To support those in danger n r in serious threat in a marriage, divorce was promoted. It seems that nowadays, people abuse this and tend to see divorce as a norm.
In this new world, I struggle with the concept of getting married cuz marital vows nowadays r not worth the paper they are written on.
If a man n woman genuinely love God, themselves and each other..they will easily want 2 please each other and make it work, regardless of the ups and downs..gbam
