Rounds 2012 WK11
Good evening ladies. The gentlemen are on their own. Welcome to another edition of your favourite category on this here site. We’ll keep saying it until you believe it. Anyway, without wasting any more film, here is the news:
***************
Two Cameroonian men previously sentenced to five years in prison for engaging in gay sex were jeered by a disapproving crowd when they appeared in court for their appeal hearing, the AFP reported. According to the reports, lawyer for the convicted couple, identified as Jonas and Franky, have called on the courts to repeal the sentencing and release the men. “They will present guarantees to assure you that they will respond regularly to summons from the court,” Michel Togue said at the appeals court in Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital. A crowd outside the court booed the men as they were driven back to their prison cells.
“There is prejudice here,” the lawyer said.
Word, brother. Word.
Like many African countries, Cameroon is largely homophobic, and the law stipulates and individuals guilty of engaging in same-sex relationships be sentenced to five years in prison and fined.
Just 5 years? *Note to some certain Nigerian erm… celebs* You hear that? It’s not so bad in Cameroon. What say ye?
According to reports, both Jonas and Franky and a third man were sentenced to five years in Jail last November and ordered to pay a 300 euro fine. The third (wise) man did not appeal his sentencing. The judge adjourned the case to April 20 to consider the call for their release.

Pop singer and actress Lindsay Lohan is not finding things easy trying to stay away from trouble.
This should be in the WTF Why-Is-This-News section but hey…
The actress was accused by a night club manager of grazing his knee with her car, on her way for a friend’s birthday party. She denied the accusation via her twitter account saying, the statement is “absurd” and a “complete lie” while the police says there is no evidence of injury on anyone. She also added “Last night I attempted to wish a friend happy birthday which I didn’t even get to do because I was freaked out by a lot of the paparazzi….The false accusation is absurd.
Police spokesman Raul Jovel said his officers were called to the scene shortly after. “They found no evidence of vehicles being hit and no evidence of people being injured”.
Dear Bartender, what does it take to bruise you knee just a little? There is money to be made here.
*sigh* Must we teach you everything??

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Abba Moro, has announced that the federal government will build more prisons in the country. This, according to him, is to improve the state of the correctional facilities in the country.
Moro said this while speaking with a British government delegation in his Abuja office. He explained that the frequent jail breaks and other attacks on the prisons may have stemmed from their deplorable conditions.
The Interior minister said the project would also be an implementation of the agreements reached by Nigeria and British authorities on prisoner exchange. Britain had also offered to build new prisons in Nigeria to house the large number of Nigerians currently serving jail terms there.
“Prisoner transfer would have been a thing of the past, the political will is there, and the leadership support is also there, but some legislative technicalities need to be taken care of before such an exchange can be done,” Moro said.
He also thanked the British for their resolve in helping Nigeria tackle all forms of internal and external terrorist actions facing the country.
SOKOTO! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?? NOW THE INNOCENT PRISONERS CAN’T ESCAPE!!

In the WTF Why-Is-This-News Section:
The world’s ugliest dog, Yoda, died in her sleep on Saturday, reports said. Yoda, whose spectacularly ugly face, short unruly tufts of hair, protruding tongue, hideous snout and oddly hairless legs, won her the 2011 World’s Ugliest Dog award at the Sonoma Marin Fair died at the age of 15.
I would have told the lil’ bitch to butt off the news, but I have respect for the elderly.
The Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix weighed 0.8 kg had lived a hard life before Terry Schumacher found her abandoned behind an apartment building.
Schumacher, who had initially mistake Yoda for a rat, eventually took her in and Yoda went on to win $1,000 and a trophy last June. The ugly dog and her compassionate benefactor went on to attain nationwide fame, appearing on national television.
Schumacher, who lives in California, told the press that she will miss Yoda and “her funny little ways”. She added that she was “comforted knowing she will be joining my Mom and Dad, who loved her so much. Her memories will live on forever.”
*sigh* Americans…
Thousands of people die every hour, but one dog goes to 7th heaven and NEWS!!!

Remember that worst photographer competition where we had you girls send pictures of your duck faces? Well, you all lost! Because a would-be photographer has been crowned UK’s worst after his over exposed image of his baby daughter was entered into the contest.
Stuart McGhee says he took the “glowing baby” photo his daughter Jasmine not long after she was born and admits he didn’t know what he was doing with the camera. As a result the extreme close-up ended up giving little Jasmine glowing white thanks to her proximity to the flash.
Stuart has won a place at a free training course at RedCloudDays.co.uk for his extremely hopeless family portrait. Speaking of the win, Stuart said: “I am extremely surprised to have won. Family and friends already see me as bad photographer; this award makes it official!
It don’t get no worse than this fellows…no worse.
